An Interview with Miki Ishikawa

Miki Ishikawa is an actress. Her acting career started in 2004, on Nickelodeon’s Zoey101. Her most recent work includes AMC’s The Terror and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, part of the Marvel Universe and Adult Best Friends. Her upcoming work includes the films Site, and I Don’t Want to Drink Your Blood Anymore, in which she plays an agoraphobic one-fanged vampire.

What is this current chapter or moment of your life like in 5 words? 

This chapter of my life is a mixed bag, so hard to describe in just five words. But maybe it's all a bit of these... the butterfly effect, surrendering, discovery, a lot of Lauryn Hill and Lord Huron.

What book are you currently reading? 

Currently reading The Year of Magical Thinking by Joan Didion.

What is your sun, moon, and rising?

I’m a Leo, that’s all I know.

Do you have any favorite vintage or antique pieces? 

I have a few pieces that I LOVE, but if I have to pick one I'd say my mom's Fiorucci bomber jacket. It's black with a hood, with some white writing on the back. It's all worn in and beat up and it's just so cool. The other pieces I love are my grandparents' jewelry… I have a lot of pieces from both my grandfather who has passed and my grandmother. They both had an impeccable taste in jewelry and traveled around the world so I have so many fun unique pieces that I hope to pass down as well. 

What do you love about vintage?

I love that vintage can tell a story about someone. You can just look at a vintage piece, clothing, jewelry, shoes or even furniture and imagine who it once belonged to and if it were alive what it would say, what story it would tell.
